چکیده
Background: Biological plant protection with entomopathogenic fungi is a vital component of sustainable pest management. The most widely used (EPF) are Beauveria bassiana, Metarhizium anisopliae, Verticillium sp. And Isaria sp., though there several other genera EPF whose potential correlates to that commonly for reducing insect pests. primary goal this study was assess the efficiency few novel fungal isolates against Methods: Two concentrations four different were evaluated their potency wax moth larvae, Galleria mellonella at Insectary, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. Result: Mortality observed in both fungi, among which Penicillium simplicissimum performed well on par Clonostachys rosea and Purpureocillium lilacinum. Hence, these could be formulated utilized biological control.

Pathogenicity of bacterium, Xenorhabdus nematophila isolated from entomopathogenic nematode (Steinernema carpocapsae) and its secretion against Galleria mellonella larvae.
The entomopathogenic bacterium, Xenorhabdus nematophila was isolated from the hemolymph of Galleria mellonella infected with Steinernema carpocapsae. The bacterial cells and its metabolic secretions have been found lethal to the Galleria larvae. Toxic secretion in broth caused 95% mortality within 4 d of application whereas the bacterial cells caused 93% mortality after 6 d. When filter and san...

EditoriAL Pathogens and their respective hosts interact closely leading to the host–pathogen framework response that could result in different outcomes that range from pathogen elimination to death of the host. To improve our ability to propose new measures that promote pathogen elimination and prevent host death, we need to have a comprehensive understanding of this interaction. Generally , mo...
متن کاملSeed borne fungi of rice from South Tamil Nadu
Fungi associated with seeds of five cultivars of rice were isolated by agar and blotter paper methods. The fungus was isolated from the contaminated surface of unmilled rice grain and identified based on their typical structure and basic characters as suggested by Barnett and Hunter (1972). Five pathogenic fungi, namely Aspergillus flavus, A. niger, Penicillium citrinum, Alternaria padwickii an...
متن کاملAspergillus fumigatus mycovirus causes mild hypervirulent effect on pathogenicity when tested on Galleria mellonella.
Mycoviruses are a specific group of viruses that naturally infect and replicate in fungi. The importance of mycoviruses was revealed after their effects were identified not only in economically important fungi but also in the human pathogenic fungus Aspergillus fumigatus. The latter was shown recently to harbor at least three different types of mycoviruses including a chrysovirus, a partitiviru...
متن کاملResponses of the entomopathogenic nematode, Steinernema riobrave to its insect hosts, Galleria mellonella and Tenebrio molitor.
Potential hosts for infective juveniles of entomopathogenic nematodes can vary considerably in quality based on the characteristics of the host species/stage, physiological status (e.g. stress, feeding on toxins), and infection status (heterospecific or conspecific infection). In this study, we investigated responses of the entomopathogenic nematode Steinernema riobrave to hosts (Galleria mello...
